Visions from an average amateur photographer.
About
I have a lot to learn about photography.
I know what all the settings on my camera do, and the technical aspects are all very interesting (yes, I do know how to shoot manual). That said, I tend to just shoot first, and figure out if I shot anything decent later. This has its pros and cons. I know I need to slow down and do it right the first time, instead of relying on being able to fix my RAW files in post. In other words, I need to stop being lazy. But on the other hand, I’m less apt to miss a moment I can’t get back because I’m fiddling with my camera.
Still, I’m lazy. But I’m learning.
This is one of two photoblogs I maintain. My other one is Stayton (Oregon) Daily Photo, where I post a photo each day of my hometown. It’s been going strong since May, 2006.
This use to house a previous form of this photoblog, using different software. After neglecting it for over a year, I started over.
For those who may care, here is my camera gear (such as it is):
Camera:
- Canon Rebel XT
Lenses:
- Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC (currently my favorite)
- Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro 1:1
- Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
- Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM
- Sigma AF 70-300mm DG APO f/4.0-5.6
Finally, here’s a video slideshow I put together in 2009 of Autumn in Oregon.
And for further grins and giggles, another slideshow of photos I took at a Peter Cetera concert, also in 2009.
